Adishi Ski Touring

Adishi is a medieval tower village deep in Upper Svaneti, cut off by road in winter. On skins it is a quiet base for touring to cols and glacier viewpoints, with a night in a village guesthouse. From €110 per day.

Overview

Skins, cols and a tower-village night.

The tour reaches Adishi on the classic Mestia–Ushguli line, then works the slopes and cols above the village toward the Adishi glacier. Terrain is open and moderate-to-steep; the reward is solitude and views few skiers see.

Most groups stay a night in an Adishi guesthouse — wood stove, home cooking, no crowds — before touring out. You need uphill fitness and touring bindings or a splitboard; rental setups are available.

Ski touring around Adishi

Adishi is one of the most beautiful and remote villages in Upper Svaneti — a cluster of ancient stone towers beneath the Adishi glacier, cut off by snow for much of winter. That isolation makes it a magnificent ski touring base. Skinning from the village, we tour toward the glacier and surrounding passes through untouched snow and total silence.

We run Adishi as a guided skin-touring experience for fit, experienced tourers, often staying overnight in a traditional Svan guesthouse to reach the terrain at the right time. The combination of living history and wild backcountry is hard to match.

Winter in Adishi

Deep snow, big glaciated scenery and genuine remoteness — your guide manages avalanche risk and route choice throughout. In summer the same village is a highlight of the Mestia to Ushguli trek and a superb day hike.

Frequently asked questions

Is Adishi accessible in winter?

Only on foot or skis — the road is usually snowed in. That is exactly what makes it such a rewarding, quiet ski touring destination. We plan access and overnight stays accordingly.

Do we stay overnight in Adishi?

Often yes, in a traditional Svan guesthouse, which lets us reach the touring terrain in good early conditions. It can also be done as a long day for strong groups.
