The table where Svaneti opens up.

A supra is the Georgian feast, and the Svan version has its own dishes: kubdari (meat-filled bread), tashmijabi (cheese and potato), and mountain herbs and cheeses. You eat what the family eats, with wine and chacha poured through the evening.

Between courses the host tells the stories — the towers, the old customs, the winters that shaped the region. It is the after-ski or after-hike evening guests remember most. Vegetarian tables available.

A Svan supra — feast, wine and storytelling in Mestia

No visit to Svaneti is complete without a supra, the traditional Georgian feast. In a Svan home in Mestia you sit down to a table laden with local dishes — kubdari (spiced meat bread), khachapuri, mountain cheeses, herbs and more — led by a tamada (toastmaster) whose toasts weave through family, mountains, guests and history. Wine and chacha flow, songs are sung, and the evening becomes an experience in itself.

It is the warmest possible introduction to Svan culture and hospitality, and the perfect end to a day of hiking or skiing. We arrange authentic suprasa with real local families, not staged shows.
